De Valera Government 9
The government of De Valera 9 was the 4th government of the Republic of Ireland , it was in office from June 9, 1944 to February 18, 1948.
In the early parliamentary election on May 30, 1944 , Fianna Fáil (FF) , who had ruled since 1932, won an absolute majority with 76 out of 138 seats. Éamon de Valera was elected Taoiseach (Prime Minister) on June 9, 1944 by 81 votes against 37 votes by the Dáil Éireann (Lower House of the Irish Parliament) . The ministers were elected by the Dáil on the same day. The Taoiseach, the ministers and the Taoiseach-nominated secretaries of state were appointed on the same day by President Douglas Hyde . The government consisted only of members of the Fianna Fáil.
In the following parliamentary election on February 4, 1948 , Fianna Fáil remained the strongest party, but lost the absolute majority. A grand coalition was formed under the leadership of John A. Costello ( Fine Gael ).

Reshuffles
Tánaiste and Finance Minister Seán Ó Ceallaigh resigned on June 14, 1945 after his election as President. His successor as Tánaiste was Seán Lemass , Minister of Industry and Trade. He was followed in the Ministry of Finance by Frank Aiken , whose previous portfolio, coordination of defense matters, was no longer available.
The Ministry of Supply was dissolved and its powers were transferred to the Ministry of Industry and Trade on August 1, 1945.
Francis Ward , Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Local Administration and Health, resigned on July 13, 1946.
On January 1, 1947, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Industry and Commerce, Seán O'Grady , moved to the Treasury, and the Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury, Patrick Smith , became Parliamentary Secretary to the Secretary of Agriculture.
On January 22, 1947, two new ministries were established, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Social Affairs. Agriculture Secretary James Ryan took over the reins of the newly established Health and Welfare Departments. Minister of Agriculture was Patrick Smith, previously Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture. The Ministry of Local Administration and Health was renamed Ministry of Local Administration.
