Ricardo Alejandro Luna (born April 20, 1970 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine conductor , composer , choir director , arranger and singer with the baritone voice . He has lived in Vienna since 2000 .

Live and act

Luna studied conducting with Guillermo Scarabino and Guillermo Opitz and composition with Roberto Caamaño , Marta Lambertini , Gerardo Gandini and Julio Viera at the Catholic University of Argentina with a degree. In Argentina he gained his first experience as a choir singer and vocal soloist. He took conducting master classes with Kurt Masur at the Teatro Colón , Michael Luig and Ervin Acél . He also completed postgraduate studies in conducting and composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Uroš Lajovic and Erich Urbanner .

In Vienna he worked as a singer with the Wiener Singverein and the Arnold Schoenberg Choir , with which he sang under the direction of Nikolaus Harnoncourt a . a. at the Styriarte 2003 Beethoven's Choral Fantasy and Mendelssohn's 42nd Psalm with live broadcast on Ö1 from the Stephaniensaal in Graz.

In 1996, while still studying in Argentina, Luna founded the choir "Coro de Cámara de Puerto Madero". He had his first engagement as Kapellmeister in the Iglesia Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes .

Luna made his European debut in 2000 as a conductor in Vienna with Bruckner's 1st Symphony and in Szombathely (Hungary) with Bartók'sConcerto for Orchestra ” together with the Oradea Philharmonic Orchestra and the Savaria Symphony Orchestra. On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the first performance of Beethoven's 3rd Symphony , he conducted the Vienna Concert Association in 2004 as part of the “Project Eroica” at the Teatro Colón and in 2005 in Vienna.

In 2006 Luna was appointed artistic director of the Vienna Madrigal Choir. In 2007 he conducted the Austrian premiere of Astor Piazzolla's bandoneon concert in the Mozart Hall of the Vienna Konzerthaus . In 2008 he conducted the Austrian premiere of the new edition of the Musikwissenschaftlichen Verlag (2005) of Bruckner's Mass No. 3 (version 1883) and the Te Deum in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein with the Vienna Madrigal Choir and the Vienna Volksoper Symphony Orchestra .

With his vocal ensemble Armonia Vocale , he has regularly been responsible for the musical formation of high offices in Vienna's St. Peter's Church since 2009 . He also directed evangelical television services broadcast by ZDF and ORF . In 2011 he took over the management and the reconstruction of church music in the Karlskirche Vienna and was appointed Kapellmeister and Cantor .

In 2014 he founded the Choir of the Karlskirche, which in February 2018, as part of his first tour together with the Schola of the Sistine Chapel in St. Peter's Basilica, participated in the musical arrangement of the Holy Mass with Pope Francis , which was broadcast worldwide on television. Together with the choir of the diocese of Terni-Narni-Amelia , Luna also organized the television service broadcast by Rai 1 in the cathedral of Terni .

Luna performed works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , Anton Bruckner , Gabriel Fauré , Maurice Duruflé , Ludwig van Beethoven , Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy , Heinrich Schütz , Antonio Vivaldi and Johann Sebastian Bach , among others .

He has conducted concerts at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the Vienna Musikverein and the Vienna Konzerthaus, St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna , the Kremsmünster Collegiate Church , St. Peter's Basilica, the Narni Cathedral and the Vienna Hofburg Chapel . In 2012 he was a lecturer at the choir academy and the master class for chamber music at the “Narnia Arts Academy” in Umbria and from 2014 was guest conductor at the annual “Eventi Valentiniani” festival in Terni.

Luna has worked with the Wiener Concert-Verein , the Symphonieorchester der Volksoper Wien, the Concilium Musicum Wien , the Savaria Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra da camera di Perugia, the Orquesta Sinfonica Municipal de San Martin and the Symphonia Buenos Aires.

Award

In 2005 Luna was awarded the title of "Nobleza Meritocratica" and the award "Estrella Académica Universal" in Buenos Aires for his services as the cultural ambassador of Argentina.
