The Finn spent the rest of the season in the American Hockey League with the Norfolk Admirals and in the ECHL with the Mississippi Sea Wolves , Elmira Jackals and Augusta Lynx . The following season the Finn began with the Norfolk Admirals in the AHL, in which Helenius guarded the goal in 12 games as back-up from Dustin Tokarski .
In January 2010 he was sent to Sweden on loan to Södertälje SK in the Elitserien and stood in nine games between the posts by the end of the 2009/10 season . After Helenius had spent the entire 2010/11 season at Södertälje SK, with which he missed the league and was relegated to the HockeyAllsvenskan , the Finn was committed in May 2011 by JYP Jyväskylä from the SM-liiga. With JYP he won the Finnish championship at the end of the season and was awarded the Urpo Ylönen trophy as best goalkeeper .
