Mario Lamoureux (born June 18, 1988 in Grand Forks , North Dakota ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Dresdner Eislöwen in the DEL2 since 2019 .
Career
Lamoureux began his career with the Tri-City Storm in the North American junior league United States Hockey League and left it as a record player with 129 points , including 85 assists, in 236 games. Between 2008 and 2012 he played for the University of North Dakota in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA), with which he was WCHA Champion in 2010, 2011 and 2012 and won the Broadmoor Trophy . In his senior year, Lamoureux was the North Dakota Fighting Hawks team captain . In addition, he was elected several times to various WCHA All-Star teams.

Lamoureux had his first professional engagement at the end of the 2011/12 season with the Gwinnett Gladiators in the ECHL . In his first full ECHL season in the 2012/13 season with the Ontario Reign , Lamoureux was appointed to the all-rookie team after scoring 25 goals and 40 assists in 71 games. For the ECHL 2013/14 season he signed a new contract with the Reign and also spent some time with the Oklahoma City Barons in the American Hockey League (AHL) that year. In February 2014 he was signed by the EC VSV from the Austrian ice hockey league , where he met his brother Jean-Philippe .
In October 2014, the Ontario Reign gave his transfer rights to the Quad City Mallards , for whom he subsequently collected 20 goals and 51 assists in 68 ECHL appearances. In the course of the season Lamoureux also completed a Professional Tryout Agreement (PTO) with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and the Charlotte Checkers , both teams from the AHL. Before the playoffs, he returned to the Mallards.
From 2015 the American was under contract with Esbjerg Energy from the Danish Metal Ligaen and won the Danish championship with them in 2016 . With 26 goals and 35 assists in 45 regular season games, as well as 2 goals and 11 assists in 18 playoff games, he was one of the key players in the championship squad. After a year in Denmark, Lamoureux accepted an offer from Austria and signed a contract with the EBEL team HC Innsbruck in May 2016 .
In February 2018 he returned to the EBEL after stints in Norway and Switzerland when he was signed by the EC Graz 99ers . He then played another season in Innsbruck. In May 2019 he was signed by the Dresdner Eislöwen from the DEL2 .

family
Mario Lamoureux comes from a family who loves ice hockey. His father Jean-Pierre was a goalkeeper for the University of North Dakota in the early 1980s . He also has three brothers and two sisters who all play or have played ice hockey. His two twin sisters, Monique and Jocelyne , are both internationals for the United States and have won two Olympic silver medals and several world titles.
His brother Jacques studied at the United States Air Force Academy and played for their ice hockey team, where he was nominated for the Hobey Baker Award . Pierre-Paul played for the University of Manitoba and is now on the coaching staff of the ice hockey team. Jean-Philippe Lamoureux also played for the University of North Dakota in the past , was later active in the ECHL and was on the ice with Mario at EC VSV between February and April 2014.
