Jordan Knackstedt (born September 28, 1988 in Saskatoon , Saskatchewan ) is a German - Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Dresdner Eislöwen in the DEL2 since May 2018 .
Career
WHL Junior and AHL
Knackstedt began his career in the 2004/05 season with the Red Deer Rebels in the Western Hockey League . Three years later he was given to the Moose Jaw Warriors . In the 2007 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected in the seventh round in 189th place by the Boston Bruins . In the same year he also took part in the Bruins Development Camp, where he made a positive impression. In his last junior season with the Warriors, Knackstedt scored 85 points, making him a team-internal top scorer and seventh in the WHL scorer list. At the end of the WHL season he was sent from the Bruins to the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League (AHL) to end the 2007/08 season there. Thereupon he received an entry level contract with the Bruins , whereby in addition to his playful skills, his physical strength was also mentioned.
In the following three seasons, he was part of the squad of the Providence Bruins, the AHL - farm team of the Boston Bruins, before December 9, 2010 along with Jeff Lovecchio in exchange for Sean Zimmerman and a draft pick to the Florida Panthers was issued.
Success in Italy, Denmark and the ECHL
After 3 years in the AHL Knackstedt moved to Europe for the first time and was under contract with HC Bozen in the Italian ice hockey league Serie A in the 2011/12 season . With the top Italian club, he was able to win the Italian championship directly , to which he contributed a total of 74 points, so that he was the best scorer of his team and with 12 goals was the most successful goalscorer in the entire league in the play-offs . He then played briefly at Tingsryds AIF in the 2nd Swedish ice hockey league HockeyAllsvenskan , but returned to Italy in autumn 2012 and was signed by Milano Rossoblu .
On September 25, 2013 Knackstedt signed a contract with the Bakersfield Condors from the ECHL for the 2013/14 season . With the club from California he reached the play-off semi- finals, which was Bakersfield's best ECHL season performance so far , and Knackstedt managed to become the best- scoring player in his team in both the main round and the play-offs. After the successful season with the Condors Knackstedt decided in August 2014 to return to Europe and signed a one-year contract with Rubin Tyumen from the Wysschaja Hockey League . During the season he first moved to HK Saryarka Karaganda before ending the season in Germany at ESV Kaufbeuren in the DEL2 . With the Jokers he was able to contribute 12 points (6 goals) to stay in the relegation .
At the beginning of the 2015/16 season he was initially without a club before he was signed on November 4, 2015 by the Greenville Swamp Rabbits from the ECHL. For the Rabbits he completed 45 games and moved to the Quad City Mallards during the season .
In the following season 2016/17 he was under contract in the Danish Metal Ligaen - first with the Herlev Eagles and from February 2017 with Esbjerg Energy . He was the best point player at Herlev and behind Brock Nixon the best point player in the play-offs, in which he won the Danish championship with Esbjerg .
Change to DEL2
After this success, he was signed by the ice pirates Crimmitschau for the 2017/18 season in July 2017 , received German citizenship before the start of the season and, with Robbie Czarnik and Ivan Ciernik, formed one of the most successful attack lines in the league, where he was the most successful with a total of 78 scorer points Pirate advanced. Therefore, he became interesting for other clubs of the DEL2 and decided in May 2018 for the offer of the Dresdner Eislöwen . He also played a successful main round for his new club and took fourth place in the league scorer ranking (just like in the previous season). In the subsequent play-offs he reached the semi-finals with the Eislöwen and contributed 6 goals and 21 assists to this success. Because of the performances he showed he was named DEL2 player of the month March .
