Steven Rupprich (born April 15, 1989 in Berlin ) is a German ice hockey player who has been playing for the Dresdner Eislöwen in the DEL2 since September 2014 . In his career he was also active for the Iserlohn Roosters and the Nürnberg Ice Tigers from the highest German ice hockey league.
Career
Born in Berlin, Steven Rupprich began in 1995 when local ice hockey team Eisbären Berlin with the puck sport. For the Eisbären Juniors Berlin youth team, he went on the ice in the German Youth League from the 2004/05 season . In the three seasons, the center proved to be a good scorer and preparer and was also the captain of his team. From the 2005/06 season , the left shooter also played in the major league for the Juniors.
After the 2007/08 season , Steven Rupprich moved to the Iserlohn Roosters in the German Ice Hockey League , where he signed a three-year contract. In his first year he scored a goal and an assist. In his second year he was also scheduled for the fourth row. On the fifth match day Rupprich received his first game misconduct penalty in the DEL after he had only four penalty minutes in the previous year. In addition, he scored two goals. He played a total of 4 seasons for the DEL club from the Sauerland and achieved a total of 19 points (9 goals, 10 assists) in 203 games.
For the 2012/13 season Rupprich moved to league competitor Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers from Nuremberg , with whom he signed a two-year contract. After the disappointing 2011/12 season, the Ice-Tigers replaced almost the entire squad and hired a new coach in Jeff Tomlinson , whom Rupprich knew from his time with the Eisbären Juniors. Together with Patrick Buzás and Yasin Ehliz , Rupprich was supposed to form a line of attack by the so-called "young savages". Overall, he was on the ice in 101 DEL games for Nuremberg in the 2 seasons and was able to achieve 16 points (6 goals, 10 assists).
In the summer of 2014 he took part in the training of the Dresden Ice Lions from the DEL2 and also completed the club's preparatory games. At the beginning of September of the same year he received a three-month contract with the Eislöwen. In these 15 games (3 goals), ice lion trainer Thomas Popiesch particularly appreciated his physical presence and defensive qualities and so his contract was extended until the end of the season. In total, he was able to score 15 points (9 goals, 6 assists) in 55 league games, and his performance in the play-offs was particularly impressive, so that the hard rock fan will also play for Dresden in the 2015/16 season .
International
Rupprich went through various junior national teams of the German Ice Hockey Federation and also led them to the respective world championships as captain. Most recently he took part in the 2009 Junior Ice Hockey World Championship . When he participated in a total of 4 ice hockey junior world championships , he was able to score 9 points (6 goals, 3 assists) in 21 games.
