Rixe was a bicycle , moped and motorcycle factory from the Brake district of the East Westphalian city of Bielefeld .

history

The company was founded in 1922. Since the 1950s, Rixe mostly used engines from Fichtel & Sachs plants with displacements of 47 cm³ and 98 cm³, which were known for their durability and reliability. At the time of the motorcycle boom in the 1950s, motorcycles from 100–250 cm³ with engines from Sachs and ILO were also manufactured. The most powerful version was the RS 250 Senator, equipped with a 250 cm³ ILO 2-cylinder engine with approx. 15 hp (1956–1957). In addition, small motorcycles (Rixe RS 50K / 1960–61, Derby C / 1962–67, Derby d / 1965–75, RS 50S / 1976–78) and the light motorcycle RS 80 SW with 80 cm³ were produced. In contrast to the small motorcycles, these were only sold in small numbers.

The company's history ended in 1985. After the factory holidays , the management filed for bankruptcy on January 4, 1985. The production facilities were sold to the People's Republic of China . The brand was taken over in 1998 by the bicycle manufacturer Derby Cycle Werke from Cloppenburg .

Products

From 1951, Rixe manufactured numerous mopeds that were initially very similar to bicycles with an auxiliary motor. In 1965 the production of mopeds began. The most successful models were called Libelle, Tourismo, Champion and from 1974 High-Sport. The mopeds were available in different versions with suspension, automatic or 2- or 3-speed manual transmission.
