Hase Spezialräder is a German manufacturer of special bikes based in Waltrop , which also operates under the international name HASE BIKES . The product range includes recumbent tricycles , step tandems and cargo bikes . For most of the models offered, special equipment is available so that the bicycles can be used for rehabilitation purposes . The bicycles are mainly sold in the European and North American markets. With an annual sales of 1,400 special bicycles, Hase is one of the world market leaders in the recumbent bike segment alongside HP Velotechnik .

Company history

In 1989, the later company founder Marec Hase won the state competition Jugend forscht in North Rhine-Westphalia with a tandem tricycle . A year later, Hase took second place with a folding recumbent bike in the follow-up competition. The company Hase Spezialräder was founded in 1994 as a garage company in Bochum . In 2001 the factory moved into a building of the former Waltrop colliery . In 2007, Hase Spezialräder was awarded the Vestische Company Prize.

Hase Spezialräder holds the world record entered in the Guinness Book of Records for the longest train made of bicycles. In 2003, 62 Kettwiesel took part in the record attempt. At ExtraSchicht 2007, Hase broke his own record with a tandem train of 93 wheels that was more than 150 meters long.

The company organizes tricycle races with recumbent tricycles under the name Trikerace at public events.

Together with the partner company EFBe Prüftechnik , which is located under the same roof , Hase develops technical test stands for the bicycle industry , which are sold to bicycle manufacturers around the world.
