A Storck Scenario Light from 2004

The Storck Bicycle GmbH is an international bicycle manufacturers from Germany , which has specialized in the frame lightweight. The company received the iF Design Award twice in 2004.

history

The company's history began with Storck Bike-tech GmbH, which was founded by Markus Storck in Bad Camberg in the Limburg-Weilburg district in 1988 . Three years later, Storck Bike-tech Inc. was founded in the USA in 1992.

The new company and brand name “Storck Bicycle” was introduced in 1995 and is intended to underline the step from a component-oriented company to a bicycle manufacturer. 1996 saw one of the greatest sporting successes for the still young company. The Dutchman Bart Brentjens won the gold medal on a converted Storck Rebel mountain bike at the first cross-country mountain bike race of the Olympic Games .

In 1998, completely assembled Storck bicycles were marketed for the first time. The development in the field of extensive lightweight construction continued. In 2001 Storck Bicycle presented the extremely light racing bike frame Scenario Light with 1200 g and at the Eurobike 2004 a 4200 g racing bike and a 6200 g mountain bike were presented.

For Storck Bicycle, the highlight to date in lightweight frame construction was the carbon frame, developed in 2007 and with a weight of 1095 g, the lightest carbon frame in the world . The carbon frames are developed in Germany, but the very labor-intensive manufacturing process takes place in China. In 2007 around 5500 lightweight frames and 500 bicycles were manufactured.

Storck Bicycle has been headquartered in Idstein since 2009 .

Awards

In October 2013, the Storck model was Aernario G1 from the Design Council with the German Design Award 2014 awarded after the company's models had been nominated in previous years, already ten times.
