Robert von Landmann

Robert August von Landmann (born January 12, 1845 in Großweingarten , Schwabach district office ; † March 11, 1926 in Munich ) was a German lawyer and politician. From March 1895 to August 1902 he was Bavarian State Minister of the Interior for Church and School Affairs.

Life

After studying law in Munich, which he completed in 1869 with the second state examination ( state bankruptcy ), Landmann initially worked as secretary of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Augsburg and became editor of the Augsburger Allgemeine Zeitung . During his studies he became a member of the AGV Munich in the special houses association .

In 1876 he began to work as a legal intern in the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior . There he rose first to the District Office Assessor (1877), to the Government Assessor (1879) and finally to the Government Council (1883). On October 16, 1893 he was appointed Ministerialrat . After the death of Ludwig August von Müller , the Bavarian Minister for Church and School Affairs, Landmann was appointed as his successor in the cabinet of Friedrich Krafft von Crailsheim on March 31, 1895 . After he was knighted in 1893 already, he received in 1896 from the University of Würzburg , the honorary doctorate . During his tenure as Minister of State, he ensured an improvement in the commercial technical school system. A public debate was triggered by the School Requirements Act of July 28, 1902, which was supposed to enable the material betterment of the teaching profession. On August 10, 1902, it finally led to Landmann's dismissal from the ministerial office.

Robert von Landmann worked on numerous German legal editions and commentaries.
