Ryan Ready (born November 7, 1978 in Peterborough , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who was active during his career for the Iserlohn Roosters and the EHC Munich in the German Ice Hockey League .
Career
Ryan Ready began his professional career in 1995 with the Belleville Bulls in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League , for which he played 258 games in five years. Meanwhile, the winger was drawn in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft by the Calgary Flames in the fourth round at position 100 and in 1999 voted the OHL's best "Overage" player.
In the same year Ready signed his first professional contract with Syracuse Crunch in the AHL . For the 2000/01 season, the Canadian moved to the International Hockey League , but after a year with the Kansas City Blades he came back to the AHL to the Manitoba Moose , where he was under contract for three years and was able to achieve 130 scorer points in 204 games . In the 2003/04 season, his last for Manitoba, Ready also completed a few games for the Worcester IceCats before joining the Philadelphia Phantoms in 2004. In the second season with the Phantoms, the left shooter was rewarded with seven NHL missions with cooperation partner Philadelphia Flyers .
Shortly after the start of the 2006/07 season , however, the Canadian was not under contract with any team, which is why he accepted an offer from the Iserlohn Roosters from the German Ice Hockey League on the advice of his former teammate Jimmy Roy and signed a contract in Europe for the first time. In December 2006, the contract was extended for two more years until 2009. Ready has been wearing the “A” on his jersey as assistant captain since 2007 and, together with Jimmy Roy and Pat Kavanagh, formed one of the Roosters' most successful storms in the 2007/08 season . The next year, at the end of January, he extended his contract for another year and was able to increase his points yield on the side of Roy and Bob Wren again. The 2009/10 season started difficult for Ready, he only scored his first goal on matchday six. Also in the further course he could not bring his usual performance, at the side of Roy and initially Brian Swanson as center, later Quinn Hancock . In the last games of the season Ready showed better games again, but his contract was not extended. At the time of his departure, he held the DEL club records for most games, goals, assists and scorer points by a foreign player. Overall, in the categories goals, assists and scorer points, only the duo Robert Hock and Michael Wolf were ahead of the Canadian. For the 2010/11 season he moved to the DEL promoted EHC Munich , where he signed a one-year contract. In 2011 he ended his career.
