Robert "Bob" Wren (born September 16, 1974 in Preston , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract as a player- coach with TSV Trostberg from the Bavarian State League since 2015 .

Career

Wren started his ice hockey career with the Guelph GMC's and the Kingston Voyageurs in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Junior Hockey League and moved to the Professional Junior League Ontario Hockey League in 1991 , where he scored 134 goals and 211 assists for the Detroit Junior Red Wings in three years and was elected twice to the OHL All Star Team. In the 1993 NHL Entry Draft , the center was selected in the third round at a total of 94th position by the Los Angeles Kings . Wren, however, signed a contract as a free agent with the Hartford Whalers , but played for their farm team , the Springfield Falcons in the American Hockey League . Other stations were the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim , where he played his first games in the National Hockey League in the 1997/98 season , and their farm team, the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks . Especially in the American Hockey League, the Canadian's performances were above average and he was top scorer for three seasons in a row , but never made it into an NHL squad permanently.

About the Toronto Maple Leafs , in which Wren played his only NHL play-off game, as well as the AHL stations St. John's Maple Leafs , Milwaukee Admirals and Binghamton Senators , Wren came to Europe to the Augsburg Panthers in the 2003/04 season the German Ice Hockey League . Here the left shooter was one of the best scorers in the league with 19 goals and 34 assists. After a year, the Canadian moved to Austria to the first division club Vienna Capitals , where he was also one of the most successful points collectors in the entire league with 66 goals and 150 assists over the next three years.

After negotiations with manager Karsten Mende and trainer Geoff Ward , who had known Wren for many years from preparing for the respective seasons in Europe at his ice hockey school, the attacker switched to the Iserlohn Roosters for the 2007/08 season and signed a two-year contract. In his first season, Wren played 40 games in the main round due to an internal ligament stretch and an internal ligament tear, but was still one of the most attacking players on his team. The next year he stayed injury-free and was on the side of Jimmy Roy and Ryan Ready again one of the team's best scorers.

For the 2009/10 season , Wren was signed by ERC Ingolstadt . At the beginning of April 2011 they decided not to extend his contract, which was due to expire at the end of the 2010/11 season . In August 2011 he was signed by the Ravensburg Towerstars from the 2nd Bundesliga . After only one year with the Ravensburg Towerstars , he signed with the first division club EC Graz 99ers .

In July 2013 Wren was signed for one season by the Nottingham Panthers from the Elite Ice Hockey League . For the 2014/15 season he signed with the upper division Hannover Indians . In early October 2014, Wren announced that he had colon cancer . Therefore, he couldn't play a game for the Indians. After his recovery, TSV Trostberg from the Bavarian regional league announced the commitment of Wren in June 2015. He will act as player-coach.
