State Chess League A 1992/93

The 1992/93 season was the 18th season of the Austrian chess State League A . From the State League B were SK Furstenfeld and the first Wiener Neustadt SV ascended.

Both newcomers achieved relegation, while SK Hietzing Wien and SK VÖEST Linz were relegated.

The defending champion SK Merkur Graz had to be content with second place behind SC Margareten .

The competitions took place on October 10 and 11, 1992, on November 7 and 8, 1992, on December 5 and 6, 1992, from January 15 to 17, 1993 and on February 13 and 14, 1993.

Qualifying tournament for the State League A 1993/94

The qualifying tournament for the State League A took place from April 30th to May 2nd in Attnang-Puchheim . The participants were the SV Straßenbahn Graz (winner of the State League B South), the 1st SSK Mozart (winner of the State League B West) as well as with the ESV Attnang-Puchheim and the SC Donaustadt the winner and the third place in the State League B East (on the second place went to the second team of SC Margareten, who were not eligible for promotion). While Salzburg won all competitions and thus rose confidently, the decision about the second promotion place was very close; Graz prevailed with half a point ahead of Donaustadt and Attnang-Puchheim.
