1975 Women's World Chess Championship
At the 1975 women's chess world championship , Georgian world champion Nona Gaprindashvili successfully defended her title. She won against Nana Alexandria .
Interzonal tournament
To determine the participants in the candidate competitions, the second interzonal tournament for women was held on the Balearic island of Menorca . 20 players who had previously qualified in regional zone tournaments took part. The interzonal tournament was originally intended to determine three candidates. In the end, four places were even awarded because the defeated World Cup finalist from 1972 Alla Kuschnir was temporarily unable to take part in official championships after moving from the Soviet Union to Israel.

World championship fight
The world championship match was held from October 20 to December 1, 1975 in the Georgian Black Sea resort of Pizunda (games 1 to 8) and in Tbilisi . The main judge was Miroslav Filip from Czechoslovakia . World champion Nona Gaprindaschwili clearly prevailed and successfully defended her goal for the last time.
