2001 World Women's Chess Championship
The 2001 World Chess Championship for women was held in a knockout system. Defending champion Xie Jun did not take part in the championship. Your compatriot Zhu Chen became world champion. The venue for the World Cup was Moscow , where the title fights took place from November 27th to December 14th, 2001. The main judge was Juri Awerbach from the Soviet Union , supported by Zsuzsa Verőci ( Hungary ). 64 players took part. With the exception of the final, these met in mini matches over two games each. In the event of a tie, games with a shorter reflection period were extended. The numbers before or after the player's name in the following table indicate their position in the seeding list.

World championship fight
The world championship match was held from December 8-14, 2001. After a 2-2 draw in the games with classic cooling time, the decision was made in four rapid chess games.
