The church village is located in the valley on the Schweinsbach, which flows together with the Bauerngraben and Seebachgraben to the Saubach, which is a left tributary of the Steinbach , which in turn is a right tributary of the Tauber . Approx. 500 m to the west is the Lindleinsee, which is designated as a nature reserve . The Schweinsdorfer Ranken rises in the southeast, the Vogelbachwald lies in the northeast.
history
Schweinsdorf is probably an extension of Gattenhofen in the 8th or 9th century. The place is in 1128 in a document from King Lothar III. First mentioned as "Sewtorff", named after the five lakes that existed around the place at that time. In 1249 the place was first mentioned as "Swinsdorf". How the reinterpretation came about remains unclear.
Under the leadership of the French general Ezéchiel de Mélac , French murderers set fire to 37 houses in November 1688, causing damage of at least 8,045 guilders.
With the community edict (early 19th century), the Schweinsdorf tax district was formed, to which Chausseehaus , Gärtleinsseehaus , Linden and Nordenberg belonged. A little later the rural community of Schweinsdorf was formed, to which Seehäusl belonged. It was subordinate to the regional court of Rothenburg in administration and jurisdiction . In 1961 the municipality had an area of 4.534 km². In the course of the regional reform it was incorporated into Neusitz on May 1, 1978.
