The district road AN 8 leads to Hartershofen (2 km west) or Linden (1.5 km south). Municipal roads lead to Windelsbach to the AN 8 (2.7 km southeast), to Schweinsdorf (2 km southwest) and to the district road NEA 52 south of Wildbad (3.5 km northeast).

history

The place was first mentioned in 1156 in connection with Lupold von Nordenberg. Nordenberg was originally the property and headquarters of the hereditary chefs from Nortenberg . In 1383, this noble family had to sell their Nordenberg Castle and the surrounding areas to citizens and councilors of the imperial city of Rothenburg for 7,000 guilders due to overindebtedness. The fact that the place was now owned by non-aristocrats contradicted the burgrave Friedrich von Nürnberg and led to a feud with the imperial city of Rothenburg . In 1406 there was an unsuccessful siege of this castle, but in 1407 the burgrave was able to get the Roman-German King Ruprecht to give the order to demolish all castles that were in the hands of Rothenburg citizens, which was also carried out at Burg Nordenberg.

In 1801 there were 21 households, all of which were subject to the imperial city of Rothenburg.

With the community edict (early 19th century), Nordenberg was assigned to the Schweinsdorf tax district . A little later, the rural community of Nordenberg was founded, to which the places Karrachmühle , Linden , Nordenberg, Obernordenberg, Unternordenberg and Vorhof belonged. The municipality had an area of 5.913 km². In the course of the regional reform , this was incorporated into Windelsbach on January 1, 1972.
