Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (Experimental Center for Cinematography) in Rome is a state-funded foundation, under the umbrella of the Cineteca Nazionale (National Cinematheque) and the Scuola Nazionale di Cinema (National Film School).

It was founded in Rome in 1935 with the aim of fighting the film crisis in Italy and using film as a fascist propaganda tool.

At the same time, the Venice Film Festival was introduced and the film city of Cinecittà was built on a burned-down studio site.

Scuola Nazionale di Cinema (SNC)

The term national film school is often used synonymously for the entire foundation.

After the founding of the Russian film institutes in St. Petersburg (today St. Petersburg State University for Film and Television) and Moscow (today Gerasimov Institute for Cinematography ) in 1918 and 1919, it is one of the oldest institutions. Its first leader was Luigi Chiarini . As a trained fascist, he had no problem using his communist friends as teachers from the very beginning. This led to an artistic reference to Russian film and later to a significant influence on Western European post-war film ( Italian neorealism ).

Today, the Scuola Nazionale di Cinema encompasses all major professional branches of the film industry. The departments are outsourced

  • 2001 - La Scuola in Piemonte for animation in Turin
  • 2004 - La Scuola in Lombardia for advertising and television in Milan
  • 2008 - La Scuola in Sicilia for documentation in Palermo

The class frequency is well below ten participants, with the result of a rigorous entrance examination. The CSC behind the name of Italian filmmakers does not stand for an association, but for an elite degree.

Classes

The school usually holds an annual competition for 74 places in the following film disciplines.

  • 8 seats camera

Cineteca Nazionale

The Kinemathek was founded in its current form in 1949. She is a member of the FIFG . The films previously archived by the foundation were lost in 1943 by the German occupation. However, it can now fall back on a stock of 80,000 titles. Italian producers are required to submit a copy of their work. It maintains a rich program of events and supports foreign projects. Last but not least, old stocks are being restored or conserved.
