Seeleiten is a place in the Salzach Valley in the State of Salzburg and belongs to the municipality of Kuchl in the Hallein district (Tennengau) .

The place is located 4 kilometers southeast of Hallein and 3 kilometers northwest of Kuchl .

The Rotte Seeleiten is located at the mouth of the Taugl in the Salzach , to the right of the latter at around 460  m above sea level. A. Height. The place has roughly 125 addresses.

History and infrastructure

The place name is unclear, it could be related to an old arm of the Salzach.

In the 19th century there were only a few farms here on the old Reichstrasse over the Tauglmaut , today's Salzachtal Strasse  (B159), out of the valley Brettstein ( Garnei no.24  ), the Krollgut  ( no.26 ), Kollau  ( no.25 ), Unterhofstätten  (No. 27), Seeleiten  (abandoned as such), as well as to the south of Reitwiesen  (No. 23) and north of Stiglippen  (No. 28). While the former are still isolated today, a larger settlement developed around Reitwiesen / Stiglippen.

The Giselabahn , the Salzburg – Tyrol line of the Western Railway, was built here in 1873–75 . However, a stop was only built in 2005 as part of the development of the Salzburg Transport Association  (SVV). In 1968 the Tauern Autobahn (today's A10) was opened, initially only up to the half-way connection to Kuchl near Speckleiten , in 1972 it was continued to Golling after the Salzach bridge south of Speckleiten had been completed.

The sewage treatment plant for the Kuchl area (ARA Kuchl) is located directly at the Taugl estuary - a skinner was located here in the 19th century , i.e. an animal body recycling facility . It went into operation in 1984, was expanded in 1999–2001 and 2005–07 and today has a capacity of 6,000 m 3 of wastewater per day for 32,000  PE 60 .

Kuchl Garnei stop

Since 2005, Kuchl has had a second train stop for the Salzburg-Tiroler-Bahn , where the S3 line of the Salzburg S-Bahn stops. The Kuchl  Garnei stop (named after the town) was created in order to consolidate the network of stops for the rapid transit railway in Tennengau. The somewhat faster REX sets of the ÖBB don't stop here. Travel time to Hallein is a good 5 minutes, to Salzburg Hbf. 30 minutes by high-speed train, to Bischofshofen Bhf. Also about 30 minutes.
