Weißenbach is a scattered settlement in the Hallein basin in the state of Salzburg , and a locality and cadastral community ( Weissenbach ) of the municipality of Kuchl in the Hallein district (Tennengau).

geography

The scattered houses are in the Salzachtennengau , at the foot of the Roßfeld and the Göll , on the left side of the Salzach in the west of Kuchl, about 7½ kilometers south of Hallein .

The village comprises almost 120 buildings with around 450 inhabitants, which includes the Weißenbach settlement on the Kuchler Salzachbrücke, the Rotten Gallenhof and the Gschwandt single layer above it on the slope, the Rotten Wenger and Stockach out of the valley, and the Rotte Grifterer into the valley, where the eponymous Weißenbach comes from the Gasteig, as well as the local situation Haschberg already on the Schwarzbach ( Gollinger waterfall ) near Lacher (community Golling) , and there also Kößlgut above Lacher, as well as a house Kratzerau on the other side of the Salzach. In addition, the Truckentannalm is part of the local area up below the ridge.

The cadastral community has an area of around 26.5 km²; it covers the entire municipality to the left of the Salzach and thus takes up around half of the area of Kuchl. It also contains the village of Gasteig , and all the mountainous terrain to the right of the Salzburg up to the summit ridge of the Göll ( Hoher Göll  ( 2522  m above sea level )) and the Roßfeld ridge. The eastern cadastral border is - with the exception of a small parcel at the mouth of the Kerterbach - formed solely by the Salzach.

Today the local area is  divided into two parts by the course of the Tauern Autobahn (A10), on the valley floor and the slopes.

Nature and infrastructure

The entire southern part of the Göll cadastral community is designated as a European and nature reserve Kalkhochalpen ( FFH area AT3211012 / ESG 9 , NSG 12 ). Together with the European reserve and protected part of the Bluntautal landscape , the Göll, Hagen-, Hochköniggebirge, Steinernes Meer and the German Berchtesgaden National Park, it forms a wide, cross-border protection complex that extends into the Pinzgau.

The Gollinger Waterfall natural monument  ( NDM 197 ) is located on the border with Torren .
In the far north lies the Heiligensteiner Au, a protected part of the landscape  ( GLT 36 ).

The mountain world in this area is accessible by a good number of hiking trails. A cycle path , the Tauern cycle path , runs parallel to the Salzach .

  3. a b The cadastral community encompasses about 1½ hectares at the mouth of the Kerterbach over the Salzach (an old river straightening), which means that the hamlet in the Weißenbacher area , which is otherwise in the village of Kellau , falls. On the Josephine land survey of the 1760s – 80s (as a layer online at SAGiS, as of 2012), the old mouth situation is still legible.
  4. a b c Formally, the Göllstock, which is uninhabited, also belongs to the village of Weißenbach, which thus encloses Gasteig on almost all sides.
