Seth Eldon Griffith (born January 4, 1993 in Wallaceburg , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Winnipeg Jets in the National Hockey League since July 2018 and at the same time for their farm team, the Manitoba Moose , in the American Hockey League plays on the position of the center .

Career

After Griffith had successfully played in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) until 2010 , at the end of the 2009/10 season he joined the London Knights from the Ontario Hockey League , which had already made him in the OHL Priority Selection in 2009 had chosen. The striker completed a solid rookie year with 62 scorer points in the 2010/11 season and was able to increase this yield to 85 points in the following season , which earned him the election to the second all-star team of the league. He also won the J. Ross Robertson Cup with the Knights . The club repeated this success the next year, and Griffith was also appointed to the First All-Star Team this time. He also secured the Jim Mahon Memorial Trophy , as he was the best-in-point right winger in the league with 81 points.

In the summer of 2013, Griffith finally moved to the professional camp after being signed by the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League in April 2013 . This had selected him in the NHL Entry Draft 2012 in the fifth round in 131st position. With the start of the 2013/14 season , they put the Canadian the entire season with their farm team , the Providence Bruins , in the American Hockey League . The good first year as a professional with 50 points in 69 games helped him make his NHL debut in the jersey of the Boston Bruins in the 2014/15 season . In total, he played 30 games for Boston and was also used 39 times in Providence. In the 2015/16 game year he found himself - with the exception of four NHL games - completely back in the AHL. There he finished the season as the second best scorer and best goal preparer in the league, which earned him the appointment to the First All-Star Team .

Although the Bruins had extended his expiring contract early in May 2016, they wanted to send him back to the American Hockey League shortly before the start of the 2016/17 season . However, he had to spend 24 hours on the waiver list, from which the Toronto Maple Leafs selected him and thus took over Griffith's one-year contract. In Toronto, the attacker completed three NHL missions before being put on the waiver list again in November 2016 and from there signed by the Florida Panthers . Griffith then spent three months in the Florida squad, playing in 21 games and preparing five goals before landing on the waiver for the third time of the season in January 2017. From there he returned to Toronto and was posted to the AHL farm team Toronto Marlies .

After the 2016/17 season, the attacker received no further contract in Toronto, so he joined the Buffalo Sabers as a free agent in July 2017 . In the same way, he moved to the Winnipeg Jets in July 2018 .

International

Griffith represented his home country at the U18 World Junior Championship 2011 in Germany . He finished fourth with the team. He himself remained pointless in seven tournament games and received six penalty minutes.
