Siestrzechowice was mentioned in 1284 as Grunow and in 1310 and 1375 as Grunaw . At that time it belonged to the Duchy of Nysa , the Bishop of Wroclaw Preczlaw of Pogarell 1342 as a fief of the crown of Bohemia assumed that in 1526 the Habsburg arrived. The population of the place remained almost entirely Catholic even after the Reformation and was parish in Köppernig .

In 1592, the Prince-Bishop of Breslau, Andreas von Jerin, transferred the Grunau estate to his nephew, the Episcopal court judge Andreas von Jerin from Neiss and his wife Barbara Meczker. Then in 1593 the outworks of Kaspar Rost (Roßhof) came into the possession of the Jerin. From 1593 to 1594 he had a renaissance castle ( Grunau Castle ) built here. Until 1730 the Grunau - now knight village - remained in the possession of the von Jerin family and then passed to the Strachwitz family , who left Grunau to the prince-bishop's upper hospital in Neisse in 1743.

After the First Silesian War in 1742, Grunau and most of the Principality of Neisse fell to Prussia . After the reorganization of the province of Silesia , the rural community Grunau belonged from 1816 to the district Neisse in the administrative district of Opole . In 1819 the village received a school. In 1845 there was a castle, a castle chapel, a Catholic school, two taverns, an outbuilding and 67 other houses in the village. In the same year 543 people lived in Grunau, two of them Protestants. In 1855 542 people lived in the village. In 1874 the district of Grunau was founded, which consisted of the rural communities of Blumenthal, Grunau and Klein Briesen as well as the estate districts of Blumenthal, Grunau, Klein Briesen and Klein Briesen, Forst and Colonie Heidenau. In 1885 Grunau had 771 inhabitants.

After the Second World War in 1945, Grunau was part of Poland and the remaining German population was expelled . Grunau was temporarily renamed Izdebka until 1947 the current place name Siestrzechowice was introduced. In 1971 the Nysa Kłodzka ( Glatzer Neisse ) was dammed in the 22 km² large Neiss reservoir . While Siestrzechowice was now on the shores of this new lake, other places, such as the former Grunau colony Rościsław ( Roßhof ), fell victim to the reservoir. In 2009 the village was canalized .

Today Siestrzechowice belongs to the urban and rural municipality Nysa.

Economy and Infrastructure

Siestrzechowice is still dominated by agriculture. In 1978 there were 44 farms in the village in addition to a state estate (PGR) . Their number fell to 22 in 1988 when 53% of the population was still employed in agriculture. The decline of agriculture continued after reunification, so that today three farms are still active in agriculture. The consequences are high unemployment and emigration from the village. The poor economic situation had a significant impact on the townscape. Numerous barns remained unused and were subsequently torn down, some buildings are in a neglected condition, especially the Renaissance castle, which is one of the most important buildings in the area, but is increasingly falling into disrepair.
