First trips to Italy and France followed with the beginning of a friendship with the painter of New Objectivity and Magical Realism Heinrich Maria Davringhausen . In 1956 she became a member of the German Association of Artists and participated as a guest in the exhibitions of the artist group Junge Westen . From 1956 to 1958 she stayed in Paris . She received the art prize "The New Generation" Hanover, the sponsorship prize of the state of Lower Saxony and the art prize of Böttcherstraße in Bremen in 1963. In 1965 she married Otto Fuhrmann (1911–1994), lawyer and art collector. She became a member of the West German Artists 'Union in 1968, and in 1977 she was accepted as a member of the Düsseldorf Artists' Association. From 1975 to 1985 she spent longer periods of time painting in the Alpes-Maritimes region , in the USA and in Peru.

From 1986 she became a member of the board of the International Association of Visual Artists and the West German Artists Association. As a member of the Düsseldorf Artists' Association , Kopfermann had study visits to the Cité Internationale des Arts Paris in 1991 and 1994 . In 1994 she became a member of the New Group in Munich. Further painting stays took place in the south of France in Beaucaire in 1996 and 1997, and in 1998 a work stay in Berlin.
