The third season started on October 6th, 2006. The moderation of the show took over again Arabella Kiesbauer . Hannes Eder acted again as the “juror” after every Starmaniac appearance .

At the beginning of this relay there were two groups with nine participants each (selected from around 2500 applications). The first group started on October 6th and sang for three weeks. Every week one of the candidates was eliminated through the audience voting. The second group started on October 27th and sang again for three weeks. During these six weeks, the following candidates left: Dagmar Hinterer (left on October 6, 2006), Tanja Dickbauer (left on October 13, 2006), René Hemetsberger (left on October 20, 2006), Monika Ivkic (left on October 27 2006), Simone Mörz (retired on November 3, 2006), Radina Veliova (retired on November 10, 2006). On October 31, 2006, on the advice of the doctors, Natalie Schneider voluntarily renounced her participation because of an inflammation of the kidney pelvis and was replaced by Lois Zarculea.

After six weeks there were two groups with only six candidates each. These two groups were merged and the final group with twelve participants resulted. From there on, the "Starmaniacs" sang for first place. Every week two candidates dropped out, but one candidate could be brought back into the team with a “friendship ticket”. However, this option ended as soon as there were only six candidates left. In the last show on January 26, 2007, three finalists then submitted to the vote of the audience. First the third place was determined and the two remaining sang for the record deal with Universal Music Austria . The winner is Nadine Beiler .

A boy band called “ now different! “, Consisting of Thomas Neuwirth, Martin Zerza, Johannes Palmer and Falco De Jong Luneau. In addition to Nadine Beiler, Gernot Pachernigg , Mario Lang and Eric Papilaya have released singles as solo artists .

The fourth Starmania season started on October 17, 2008 under the motto “The best is yet to come”. During the Austria-wide casting, 20 candidates were selected for the broadcast from 2400 applicants.

The casting jury consisted of music producer Markus Spiegel , who had been on the jury in the previous seasons, as well as Roman Gregory , the frontman of the Austrian group Alkbottle and Lucy Diakovska , member of the No Angels . Arabella Kiesbauer again took over the moderation . Roman Gregory first took on the role of juror in the live broadcast. This time the winner receives a record deal with Deutsche Entertainment AG in the distribution of Warner Music . Universal Music was responsible for this for the first three seasons .

At the beginning of this season there were two groups with ten participants each. The first group started on October 17th. After two broadcasts, the second group was switched to on October 31. Two candidates (one man and one woman each) were eliminated per broadcast. Daniel Herzog and Kimberly Reidl (retired on November 7, 2008), Lee Hoffman and Salka Weber (retired on October 24, 2008), Matthias Ortner and Lia Weller (retired on October 24, 2008) as well as Lejla Imamovic and retired from the qualification programs Michael Vogt (retired on October 17, 2008). After Lia Weller surprisingly left the second show, the candidate got a record deal that same evening.

Twelve candidates qualified for the final group, two candidates are eliminated per broadcast. As with the previous seasons, however, a candidate can be brought back with the "Friendship Ticket". From the broadcast on January 9, 2009, the juror Roman Gregory decided on the whereabouts of one of the two candidates who received the fewest votes. In the semifinal broadcast, Gregory waived this option - the candidate with the fewest votes was eliminated.

At the final broadcast on January 30th, Maria Rerych, Silvia Strasser and Oliver Wimmer competed against each other. Richard Schlögl, who retired on January 2nd, was allowed to sing his song "You raise me up" again. In the first decision to enter the fight for first place, Maria Rerych was eliminated and thus took third place. Before the last decision, there was a premiere: Roman Gregory sang his birthday song with "Hier ist ein Mensch". In the last decision, Oliver Wimmer was able to prevail with 53.5% to 46.5%. He was allowed to call himself Star of the Year 2009 and got a record deal.

Obligations

When participating in Starmania , the candidates also entered into contractual obligations. For example, all “star maniacs”, including the pre-finalists, have to pay an agreed commission to the ORF over a certain period of time from their proceeds in connection with their artistic activities (appearances, interviews, advertising activities) .
