The Stobbertal nature reserve is an 884 hectare nature reserve in the Märkisch-Oderland district in Brandenburg . The name is derived from the Stöbber , whose north-eastern arm, which rises in the Roten Luch, flows through the Stobbertal.

Protection status

Primeval forest on the Stöbber

With the ordinance on the establishment of nature reserves and a landscape protection area of central importance as the Märkische Schweiz nature park of September 12, 1990, the Stobbertal was designated a nature reserve by the Council of Ministers of the German Democratic Republic . The river that gave it its name, since the turn of the 19th to the 20th century mostly called Stöbber on official maps , appeared at times as Stobberow on tourist maps of the GDR . This may explain the vowel discrepancy between river and valley names.

Under European law, the nature reserve is protected under Directive 92/43 / EEC (Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive) as a fauna-flora-habitat area and as part of the European bird sanctuary Märkische Schweiz. The international nature conservation foundation Euronatur supports the maintenance of 174 hectares of the nature reserve.

location

The Stobbertal nature reserve stretches for about 13 kilometers from Buckow in the west to Bundesstrasse 167 north of the Karlsdorfer Teiche near Altfriedland . The Klobichsee nature reserve borders to the south . The only small settlements in the nature reserve are the Eichendorfer Mühle and the Pritzhagener Mühle.
