Motorway network

Supraregional motorways

Main roads (at least four lanes) in and around the Rhine-Neckar triangle

The A 5 ( Frankfurt - Heidelberg - Karlsruhe - Basel ) and A 6 ( Saarbrücken - Mannheim - Heilbronn - Nuremberg ) motorways intersect south of Heidelberg at the Walldorf junction . Together with the A 61 on the left bank of the Rhine ( Cologne - Koblenz - Ludwigshafen), which joins the Hockenheim triangle , they create national connections in all directions.

The A 67 increases the capacity from Mannheim towards the Rhine-Main area , the A 65 connects Ludwigshafen with the southern Palatinate and Alsace .

Additional motorways

The A 650 , A 656 and A 659 motorways as well as the B 9 from Worms to Wörth (near Karlsruhe) complement the network .

Mannheim / Ludwigshafen motorway ring

The A 6 and A 61 motorways completely surround Mannheim and Ludwigshafen and thus form an outer motorway ring.

Federal highways

A dense network of federal highways creates connections within the metropolitan area and into the neighborhood.
