Sucha (German: Suchau ) is a village in Poland in Upper Silesia in the municipality of Strzelce Opolskie (Groß Strehlitz) in the powiat Strzelecki in the Opole Voivodeship .

geography

Sucha is located eight kilometers northwest of the municipal seat and the district town Strzelce Opolskie and 24 kilometers southeast of the voivodeship capital Opole .

history

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 43 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 251 for Poland. At Gut Suchau, 22 people voted for Germany and 52 for Poland. Suchau remained with the German Empire . In 1933 there were 730 inhabitants. On November 12, 1936, the place was renamed Strelau . In 1939 the place had 815 inhabitants. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Groß Strehlitz .

In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration and was renamed Sucha and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Strzelecki .
