Rożniątów (German: Rosniontau ) is a village in Poland in Upper Silesia in the municipality of Strzelce Opolskie (Groß Strehlitz) in the Powiat Strzelecki in the Opole Voivodeship .
history
In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 46 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 136 for Poland. At Gut Rosniontau, 27 people voted for Germany and 69 for Poland. Rosniontau remained with the German Empire . In 1933 there were 566 inhabitants. On July 3, 1936, the place was renamed Kurzbach . In 1939 the place had 744 inhabitants. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Groß Strehlitz .
From October 22, 1944, a satellite camp of the Groß-Rosen concentration camp was established in Kurzbach . A maximum of 1,000 prisoners had to work here for the Todt organization. The satellite camp was closed on January 20, 1945. Among the surviving prisoners were Hana Bořkovcová with her mother and Werner Sander .
In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration, was renamed Rożniątów and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship , in 1999 to the re-established Powiat Strzelecki .
