Szymiszów (German Schimischow ) is a village in Poland in the municipality of Strzelce Opolskie (Groß Strehlitz). The place belongs to the powiat Strzelecki in the historical region of Upper Silesia in today's Opole Voivodeship . Szymiszów has two school offices: Szymiszów Wieś (876 inhabitants) and Szymiszów Osiedle (1005 inhabitants).

Szymiszów is four kilometers northwest of the municipality and the district town of Strzelce Opolskie and 28 kilometers southeast of the voivodeship capital Opole .

history

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 171 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 277 for Poland. At Gut Suchau, 22 people voted for Germany and 52 for Poland, in the manor district of Schimischow 227 voted for Germany and 168 for Poland. Schimischow stayed with the German Empire . In 1933 there were 1621 inhabitants. On September 9, 1936, the place was renamed Heuerstein OS . In 1939 the place had 1,589 inhabitants. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Groß Strehlitz .

In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration and was renamed Szymiszów and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. From 1945 to 1954 Szymiszów was the seat of the Szymiszów municipality. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Strzelecki .
