Błotnica Strzelecka (German: Blottnitz ) is a village in Upper Silesia in the municipality of Strzelce Opolskie (Groß Strehlitz) in the Powiat Strzelecki in the Opole Voivodeship .

Błotnica Strzelecka is located 19 kilometers northeast of the municipality and the district town of Strzelce Opolskie and 33 kilometers east of the voivodeship capital Opole .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1240. The place name Blottnitz roughly means swamp place, swamp place.

In 1885 there were 592 inhabitants in Blottnitz. In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 106 residents voted for Germany and 179 for Poland - Blottnitz remained in the Weimar Republic . In the Blottnitz manor district, 52 people voted for Germany and 77 for Poland.

On March 27, 1925, there was a fire in Blottnitz that affected a few properties. In July 1925, prehistoric finds were discovered in a field near Blottnitz. In 1928 the Blottnitz manor district was dissolved and incorporated into the Blottnitz community. In the summer of 1932 further skeletons and urns were found. In 1933 there were 786 inhabitants in Blottnitz. On July 3, 1936, the place was renamed in Quellengrund . In 1939 there were 857 inhabitants in Quellengrund. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Groß Strehlitz .

In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration and was renamed Błotnica Strzelecka and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1945, a labor camp for Germans was set up in Blottnitz, in which residents from the area who were intended for expulsion were interned. It operated until October 1945.

In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Strzelecki.

In August 2008, a hurricane ravaged the place and destroyed a large part of the place, including residential and auxiliary buildings, the infrastructure and the park.
