Jędrynie (German: Jendrin ) is a village in Poland in Upper Silesia in the municipality Strzelce Opolskie (Groß Strehlitz) in the powiat Strzelecki in the Opole Voivodeship .

Jędrynie is located 8 kilometers north of the municipality and the district town Strzelce Opolskie and 28 kilometers southeast of the voivodeship capital Opole .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1528 as "Gendrynia" . In 1936 the place was renamed the Groß Maßdorf colony . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Groß Strehlitz and belonged to the locality of Groß Maßdorf .

In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration and was renamed Jędrynie and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . A chapel was built from 1983 to 1984. In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Strzelecki .

In a public survey , the residents of the place voted for the introduction of the additional German place name Jendrin . On July 29, 2015, the municipal council approved a bilingual place name.

Customs and manners

In Jędrynie there is a unique tradition of cutting hearts with a cross in grain fields.
