Niwki (German: Niewke ) is a village in Poland in Upper Silesia in the municipality of Strzelce Opolskie (Groß Strehlitz) in the Powiat Strzelecki in the Opole Voivodeship .

Geographical location
Niwki is nine kilometers west of the municipality and the district town of Strzelce Opolskie and 25 kilometers southeast of the voivodeship capital Opole .

history
In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 91 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 25 for Poland. Niewke stayed with the German Empire . In 1933 there were 188 inhabitants. On July 4, 1936, the place was renamed Groß Neuland . In 1939 the place had 189 inhabitants. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Groß Strehlitz .
In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration and was renamed Niwki and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Strzelecki .
