Theodor Dopheide

Theodor Dopheide (* 1956 in Münster ) is a German dubbing director and dialogue book author .

Life

Theodor Dopheide studied English , political science and journalism at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in his hometown . In 1989 he was there with the dissertation "Satyr the true medicine". Thomas Shadwell's comedies for Dr. phil. PhD . During this time he worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Criminal Sciences at the University of Münster.

Since 1989 Dr. Theodor Dopheide works as a synchronous dialogue writer and director in Berlin , initially for Interopa Film until November 1999 , and since then as a freelancer. Since then he has worked for Berliner Synchron , Arena Synchron , FFS Film and TV Synchron, Hermes Synchron and Splendid Synchron, among others .

Dopheide's first major commission was the German version of the series Das Model und der Schnüffler . He was then responsible for the dialogue book and the co-direction of the series Twin Peaks , which was first broadcast on German television in 1991/1992. His best-known and probably most successful work is probably the German version of the US hit series Sex and the City (1998-2004), which earned him a nomination for the German Synchronous Award 2004 in the category of “outstandingly dubbed TV series”. Due to the great success created Dopheide with Talk in the City an additional weekly continuation of the series as a radio radio plays with the German serial voice actresses Irina von Bentheim , Katarina Tomaschewsky , Marina Krogull and Gundi Eberhard . This series of radio plays ran nationwide on more than 15 radio stations and was also published as an audio book .

Dopheide is also responsible for the German versions of the popular British crime series Inspector Lynley and Inspector Barnaby .

He is also active as a synchronous dialogue writer and director for feature films. In this double function he created the German versions of Delicatessen (1991) by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro , the three-color trilogy (1993 to 1994) by Krzysztof Kieślowski , Willkommen in Wellville by Alan Parker and The Mask by Chuck Russell (both 1994).

Theodor Dopheide wrote the German dialogue books for numerous other films, including Braveheart by Mel Gibson , The usual Suspects by Bryan Singer and Dead Man by Jim Jarmusch (all 1995) and Sleepers by Barry Levinson , Breaking the Waves by Lars von Trier (both 1996) , Shakespeare in Love (1998) by John Madden and Magnolia (1999) by Paul Thomas Anderson .
