Theological is a theological specialist journal founded by Wilhelm Schamoni in 1970 , initially monthly, then bimonthly . According to the BBKL, the journal, which is tradition- oriented, tries to preserve its Catholic identity.

The magazine was published by the Fördergemeinschaft Theologisches eV and David Berger . After disputes with the funding association and his public coming out as a “homosexual theologian”, Berger resigned from the editor in April 2010; the magazine is currently being edited by Manfred Hauke .

Wilhelm Schamoni was editor of the magazine for many years, after him the Cologne moral theologian Johannes Bökmann was editor and after his death in early 1998 for a short time the mission scientist Johannes Dörmann . He was followed from 1999 to 2003 by Monsignor Ulrich-Paul Lange from Cologne, who was deposed against his will in 2003 by the sponsoring association and who still regards this deposition as illegal to this day. Since 2004 David Berger has been the editor of Theologisches , and against his will he was also excluded from the sponsorship community as a member.

The magazine has been financed exclusively from donations since it was founded . The work of the members of the funding association and the publisher is voluntary.
