The Tide-Este is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony Hanseatic city of Buxtehude in the Stade district .

The nature reserve with the sign NSG LÜ 341 is around 22  hectares in size. It includes the approximately 7 hectare FFH area "Este-Unterlauf". The area has been under nature protection since December 14, 2018. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Stade.

The nature reserve is north of Buxtehude in the Altes Land . It protects a section of the dammed lower reaches of the Este . The protected area comprises the course of the Este river and the part of the river low lying in front of the dike line between the Buxtehude port area and the municipal border with Jork . The lying in the reserve area of the lowland Este is predominantly by extensive reed beds taken, of tidal channels are crisscrossed. Only a small area within the nature reserve is used as grassland . Tidal flats are formed along the tidal Este .

The area is an important habitat for various aquatic communities. The reed zones are especially also the habitat of various insects and reed- dwelling bird species . The Este is the habitat of river and sea ​​lamprey . It continues to serve as a habitat and walking corridor for the otter . In addition, the protected area is of great importance as a stepping stone biotope for migratory fish species and the lampreys that occur here.

At Buxtehude-Neuland, the nature reserve is crossed by the bridge of the federal motorway 26 over the Este.
