The Im Tadel natural forest is an approximately 51  hectare nature reserve south of the municipality of Brest in the Stade district . The area lies on the Stader Geestrücken and forms the headwaters of a stream.

Milkwort

The nature reserve is divided into two areas, the actual forest area Im Tadel and a smaller area to the north called Vorderste Rehmen . Both are moist to wet locations on which near-natural forests grow, in some cases grassland areas are also included. Depending on the relief and the nature of the soil, there are different forest types such as oak-hornbeam forest , ash-alder-alluvial forest , alder-birch forest or birch bog forest . The area is home to numerous rare plant species such as liverwort , milkwort and lungwort . The nature reserve bears the sign NSG LÜ 156.
