Tony Swatton

Tony Swatton (* in London , England ) is a British - American swordsmith . He is best known for his work in films and television shows . He is also the creator of the web series Man at Arms , which he publishes on the video platform YouTube .

Life

Swatton was already collecting minerals as a seven-year-old, which he also cut . Thereby he learned the skills of a goldsmith . At the age of 15 he met Jody Samson , the blacksmith who made the movie sword for Conan the Barbarian . Swatton began trading gems for knives with Samson. Swatton made a knife from an old file and then showed it to Samson. Samson conveyed to him that he had used the wrong material to make a functional knife.

Swatton later made copies of classic blacksmithing equipment to use in making his own helmet. At the age of 26, Swatton opened his first store, Sword and Stone , in North Hollywood , selling works to Euro Disney and Michael Jackson . In 1991 he first worked for a film, Hook . Samson worked in Swatton's shop between 1994 and 1998.

Web series

Swatton became involved in the Man at Arms web series after contacting the director . The director was looking for a blacksmith who could create twelve different weapons. Swatton's talent matched that. His works include the Zenith Blade from the video game League of Legends and the iron claws of Wolverine from X-Men .

Private life

Swatton is currently engaged. In 2013 he was granted American citizenship. Swatton was also once a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism .
