geography

It lies at an altitude of 575 above sea level and extends over 197 km². The distance to the provincial capital Cordoba is 104 km. The local area creates a connection between the Comarca de Los Pedroches and the Valle de Alcudia . It is dominated by oak-lined pastures and in some places has beautiful gallery forests along the rivers. In the settlement area there are apparently no streams that run off, but in the area around the village there are a number of streams: Arroyo de Rompereza , Arroyo de Tamujoso , Arroyo de Guadamora and Arroyo del Lancharejo , each with different tributaries. The A-435 connects the place with Pedroche in the southwest and the distant Puertollano in the autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha in the northeast. Other small roads lead to Conquista in the southeast, Villanueva de Córdoba in the south and El Guijo in the west.

Surname

The name goes back to the Middle Ages. At that time, el Torre referred to a hill that was also used as a guard post. Over time, some farmers settled there. Torrecampo can be reproduced with a tower field .

history

The place emerged in the 14th century as a hamlet of Pedroche, although the first settlement germs existed earlier, such as the Castillo de Mogábar . This place was probably inhabited since the Copper Age. In 1484 the village gained independence and joined the Siete Villas de Los Pedroches . In 1560 it came to the Marquesado El Carpio .
