Baena is a small Spanish town in the Andalusian province of Cordoba . The city is located in the comarca Guadajoz-Campiña Este and is the seat of the judicial district of Baena, which includes the municipalities of Luque , Valenzuela , the district of Albendín and seven individual farms.

Baena is located 62 kilometers southeast of the provincial capital Cordoba and can be reached from there on the national road N-432. Granada is 105 kilometers southeast of Baena and Jaén is 67 kilometers east .
The Guadajoz River flows across the municipality's territory from southeast to west and the Marbella tributary crosses the city center. The river is dry almost all year round. The highest elevations in the municipality are the mountains Torre Morana (688 meters), Almoguera (758 meters) and Serrezuela (799 meters)
etymology
It is named after Baius , a Roman landowner. The place name became the Arabic Bayyana under the Moors . There are numerous Ibero-Romanic remains in the municipality of Baena. B. in Torreparedones and in Izcar as well as on the hill Minguillar.
