The 2020 Coral Tour Championship was a snooker tournament of the 2019/20 Main Tour season that was held in Milton Keynes , England . The tournament was the final of a series of three tournaments for which the players qualified via the one-year rankings. During World Grand Prix the 32 best and when were Players Championship , the 16 best players competed, the Tour Championship disputed the top eight players.

Corona pandemic

The original plan was to host the tournament from March 17-22, 2020 in Llandudno , Wales . When sporting events across Europe were canceled or suspended due to the corona pandemic , the Tour Championship was also canceled shortly before the start. The tournament was originally supposed to be postponed to the fourth week of July, when the situation eased earlier, it was brought forward to the week of June 20-26. In addition, a more suitable venue was found with the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes, England . The Championship League was held there as a preparatory tournament at the beginning of June and the location and compliance with the protective measures were tested.

To protect against infection, the participating players went into quarantine before and during the tournament and did not leave the sports facility or the directly adjacent accommodation. Virus tests were also carried out constantly. The audience was excluded and distance and protective measures were in place during the games.

Last year's winner was the Englishman Ronnie O'Sullivan , who could not qualify this year. Actually, the participation of all 8 top players in the one-year ranking was planned, but due to the circumstances, Ding Junhui refrained from traveling from China and did not participate in the tournament. His place in the schedule was taken by number 9 in the ranking, the Scot Stephen Maguire . who finished the tournament as the winner.
