The BetVictor European Masters in 2020 was a snooker tournament of the Main Tour - season 2019/20 , which from 22 to 26 January at the exhibition center of Dornbirn was held. For the first time Austria was the venue of a world ranking tournament. In addition, the three previous editions of the tournament had taken place in October, this time it was postponed to January beyond the turn of the year.
Last season in Belgium, England's Jimmy Robertson won. This time, however, he failed in qualifying.
In a one-sided final the Australian Neil Robertson prevailed 9-0 against the Chinese Zhou Yuelong and won his 17th title in a ranking tournament. It was only the second “whitewash” (to zero victory) in a ranking final with two sessions after the 1989 Grand Prix . If you add the Masters in 1988 and the International Open in 1981 , it was the fourth clean sheet in a long final of a professional tournament and the first that Steve Davis did not win.
Prize money
The prize money for the winner increased by £ 5,000 to £ 80,000. There was also an increase in the prize money for the highest tournament break to £ 5,000 after the "Rolling 147 Prize" was dropped this season.
In addition, the tournament was the start of the new "European Series" sponsored by BetVictor . An additional £ 150,000 was set aside for the player who does best in the four tournaments European Masters, German Masters , Shoot-Out and Gibraltar Open .
