The 10th stage of the Tour de France 2013 took place on July 9, 2013. It led from Saint-Gildas-des-Bois over 197 km to Saint-Malo . In the course of the stage there was a mountain classification in the fourth category and a sprint classification. So the tenth stage counted as a flat stage.

Race course

About two kilometers after the start, a five-man breakaway group pulled away from the field. It included Jérôme Cousin , Juan José Oroz , Luis Ángel Maté , Lieuwe Westra and Julien Simon . The Lotto Belisol team around André Greipel tried in the main field not to let the distance between the outliers become too large, so that they could only gain a lead of about five minutes. The field later settled in at around four minutes. Maté won the intermediate sprint ahead of Westra and Simon, and André Greipel was fastest in the peloton.

Lieuwe Westra won the only mountain point to be awarded on the stage. The speed work in the field has meanwhile been intensified, about 30 kilometers from the finish the teams Omega-Pharma-Quick-Step, Lotto-Belisol and Argos-Shimano played a major role in melting the lead of the leading group. Westra fell back into the main field twenty kilometers from the finish, the remaining four were 15 seconds ahead of the peloton. Seven kilometers from the finish line, they too were overtaken by the peloton. The sprint out of the field was won by Marcel Kittel , who after his success on the first stage was able to celebrate his second stage victory in the 2013 Tour de France.

The stage had no impact on the top positions, all jersey wearers were able to defend their leading positions.
