The Type 14 10-cm Howitzer ( Japanese. 十四 年 式 十 糎 榴 弾 砲 , Jūyonen-shiki jū-senchi ryūdanhō ) was a howitzer that was used by the Imperial Japanese Army in the Second Sino-Japanese War , the Japanese-Soviet border conflict and was used during the Pacific War from 1925 to 1945. The designation Type 14 indicates the year of the introduction of the troops, the 14th year of the rule of Emperor Taishō or 1925 according to the Gregorian calendar.

history

During the Siberian Intervention from 1918 to 1922, the Imperial Japanese Army captured some Skoda 100mm Model 1916 Howitzers from the Red Army that were produced in Austria and Hungary . These were converted in 1925 to fire Japanese 105 mm shells . The howitzer had a spreader bar, which was held apart by crossing bars. The recoil was absorbed by a pneumatic spring system. The Austro-Hungarian eyepiece was retained and supplemented with additional target acquisition for various types of ammunition.
