history
Normally, screw-top guns, i.e. guns, were not assigned at battalion level in the Imperial Japanese Army , but the Type 92 battalion gun was the exception. Most of the divisions were each assigned two Type 92 fire support companies in a battalion. Some battalions even received four Type 92s per fire support company. The relatively low weight of the weapon, its compactness and its dismantling play a decisive role. The gun could be broken down into six parts, transported by soldiers or pack animals . At a maximum range of 2800 meters, explosive , shaped charge , smoke and lighting grenades could be fired. The targets were either directly , low pipe alignment, or indirectly , with increased tube orientation angle fire , as howitzers usual, be fought.
The Type 92 battalion gun was very popular with the troops because of its reliability and robustness and remained in service until the end of the Second World War .
