Karl Louis Franz Amalrich Ulrich von Blücher (born March 17, 1816 in Falkenberg , † June 28, 1903 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Ulrich was a son of Gustav von Blücher (1770-1854) and his second wife Julie Elise, born von Heydenreich († 1818). His father was a Prussian major a. D. , head forest master and Mr. on Falkenberg.

Military career

Blücher attended the pedagogy in Niesky and the grammar school in Luckau . After graduating, he joined the 24th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army as a musketeer on October 1, 1834 , advanced to the position of redundant second lieutenant by mid-November 1835 and was assigned three months later. From April 1840 he was in command of the 3rd Combined Reserve Battalion for one year. On October 1, 1840, he joined the 24th Landwehr Regiment as adjutant and accounting officer of the 1st Battalion. From there he came on April 5, 1848 as an adjutant to the command of the troops in Berlin, and on February 10, 1849 he became an adjutant of the commandant's office in Berlin. On September 25, 1849, Blücher was transferred to the 13th Infantry Regiment as Prime Lieutenant and commanded as an adjutant of the 6th Landwehr Brigade. He was transferred to the 11th Infantry Brigade on June 18, 1852, and on November 14, 1853, while remaining in this command, as a captain in the 4th Infantry Regiment . On November 14, 1854, he was assigned to the Army Department of the War Ministry in Berlin, and on October 23, 1856, he was transferred to the Ministry. Blücher rose to major in mid-August 1857 and returned to service on May 18, 1858 when he was transferred to the 6th Infantry Regiment . There he became battalion commander on July 1, 1860, and a lieutenant colonel on October 18, 1861 . He subsequently received on 12 April 1862 his farewell with pension and the permission to wear his regiment uniform.

On October 14, 1862, Blücher became leader of the second contingent in the III. Battalion of the Landwehr Infantry Regiment No. 20. On April 10, 1863, he was put on disposition with a pension , with the authorization to wear the uniform of the Grenadier Regiment No. 6. He also became the representative of the commander of the combined tribe of the I. and III. Battalion of the Landwehr Infantry Regiment No. 20. Blücher advanced to colonel at the end of March 1865 and, after the German War, was from October 10, 1866 responsible for the regulation of the Landwehr and replacement relationships in the newly established corps district of IX. Army Corps in charge. From December 31, 1867 to December 9, 1869, he was district commander of Reserve Landwehr Battalion No. 35.

During the mobilization on the occasion of the war against France , Blücher was general stage inspector of the Maas Army , later of the Southern Army . Awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class, he returned to inactive service on April 15, 1871, conferring the character of major general, and was commanded from June 8 to November 9, 1871 to set up the replacement and military authorities in Württemberg . On June 27, 1871, he received the Commander's II class of the Order of Albrecht with war decorations and on September 28, 1871 the Order of the Red Eagle II. Class with oak leaves and swords.

On December 2, 1874, he was awarded the Commander's First Class of the Order of Frederick with Swords. He died on June 28, 1903 in Berlin and was transferred to Buschow for burial on July 1, 1903 .
