The Zurich Lake and Oberland transport companies ( VZO ) operate public bus services in the Zurich Oberland and Lake Zurich area on behalf of the Zurich Transport Association .
history
The VZO was founded in 1946 under the name Verkehrsbetrieb Zürcher Oberland . Two years later, after the people of Zurich had agreed to the reorganization of the branch lines in the Zurich Oberland, they took over the lines of the then closed Uerikon-Bauma-Bahn (UeBB), in 1949 the Uster-Oetwil-Bahn (UOeB) and from 1950 Männedorf - Wetzikon the Wetzikon-Meilen-Bahn (WMB). The first bus route was taken with seven chauffeurs and four buses. The first rolling stock consisted of an FBW semi-trailer truck for either passenger or goods traffic from the UeBB's inventory, as well as Alfa Romeo buses that were delivered late . By 1982 the network was gradually expanded and operated with vehicles from FBW. Since then, Mercedes and MAN buses have been in use. On December 15, 2019, the VZO opened the new bus depot on Schellerstrasse in Wetzikon ZH. In 2018, the VZO employed 322 people, 267 of them in the driving service.
