The Ministry of Defense and Veterans Affairs ( MODVA ; English Ministry of Defense and Veteran Affairs ), the Defense and Veterans Ministry of Namibia . The area of veterans affairs has only been assigned to this since 2020.

Along with Major General Peter Nambundunga, head of the Army (Chief of Defense Force) , monitor these various directorates, including the Directorate Defense Health Services (medical branch of the military). The Chairman of the Army is also responsible for the Namibian Defense Force with the Army , Air Force and the Namibian Navy .

The Ministry's task is to promote peaceful coexistence between people from different countries, taking into account international legislation. The main objective is regional security through international cooperation. There is close cooperation with the defense ministries of neighboring countries. However, the ministry basically assumes a possible regional threat.

The share of the state budget was around 3.4% in 2008, but rose to 10.43% in the 2010/2011 financial year. In the 2014/2015 financial year, the share rose further to 11.5%.
