History, nature and infrastructure

Already in the early 17th century, gypsum mining began on the upper Kertererbach ; the Grubbach – Moosegg gypsum mine is the largest Austrian gypsum deposit. The Riedl zum Hundskar is partly made entirely of plaster. The operating company is Moldan Baustoffe , now a subsidiary of Salzburger Sand und Kieswerke  (SSK). A cable car to the mine was also built from the Strubau Moldan plant.

When the local communities were created in 1848/50 and the Golling judicial district , the Voregg tax community was added to the political community of Scheffau. But it is very remote from the main town, because the Haarberg to the Lammertal pushes in between. The location can only be reached via the Kuchler Strubau . The mine, on the other hand, can be reached via Weitenauer Straße, which leads from Voglau behind the Lammeröfen (Abtenau municipality) around the Schwarzenberg to Oberlangenberg (St. Koloman municipality). School-wise, the village belongs to the district of the Golling elementary school .

The village includes the Alpengasthof Hochreith  ( 953  m above sea level ) with a beautiful valley view, the Leo-Roedel-Haus  ( 960  m above sea level ) built by Naturefriends (Golling local group) in 1970 is no longer open. From here the ascent leads to the Black Mountain .

The entire Salzach Valley part belongs to the Rabenstein – Kellau landscape protection area .
