Waltersdorf is a district of the municipality of Niederer Fläming in the Teltow-Fläming district in Brandenburg . The place belongs to the Amt Dahme / Mark and was an independent municipality until December 31, 1997.

Waltersdorf is 17 kilometers as the crow flies southeast of Jüterbog in Fläming . The district of Waltersdorf borders in the north on Schlenzer , in the northeast on Niebendorf-Heinsdorf , a district of the city of Dahme / Mark , in the east and south on Hohenseefeld , in the west on Nonnendorf and in the north-west on Sernow . The forest area Waltersdorfer Heide lies north of Waltersdorf . The Ihlower Graben rises in Waltersdorf .
Waltersdorf is on a municipal road that branches off about two kilometers west of the federal highway 102 .
history
The Angerdorf Waltersdorf was first mentioned in 1183, according to other sources in 1342. The place name is probably derived from the personal name Walter. Waltersdorf was originally a Slavic village, later the village was repopulated by the Flemings and received its current name as early as 1342. The ownership rights in Waltersdorf changed frequently over the course of time. Initially, Waltersdorf was in pledge possession of the von Schlieben brothers , who sold it to the Baruth rulers in 1441 . From 1529 the place belonged to Niebendorf as a Vorwerk . After the Congress of Vienna , Waltersdorf was a municipality in the then newly founded district of Jüterbog-Luckenwalde . In 1841 Waltersdorf had 142 inhabitants. The local church was a branch of the Heinsdorf parish .
In July 1952 the Luckenwalde district, which had since been renamed, was dissolved and Waltersdorf became part of the Jüterbog district in the GDR district of Potsdam . After the reunification and the Brandenburg district reform in 1993, the community belonged to the Teltow-Fläming district . On December 31, 1997, Waltersdorf and 13 other communities merged to form the Niederer Fläming community, which has been administered by the Dahme / Mark Office since January 1, 2018 .
Attractions
- The village church Waltersdorf is a rectangular hall building made of field stone , which was built in the 15th century. The windows were enlarged in the 18th century, most of the baroque furnishings also date from that time and were renovated in the early 1960s.
