The place is located about 8 kilometers southwest of the city center of Ried im Innkreis , in the Innviertel hill country towards the Hausruck and Kobernaußerwald train (southern Innviertel). It is located 1 kilometer northeast of the village of Waldzell on the right in the valley of the Waldzeller Ache (Ach) , on the Riedel , which stretches between Waldzeller Ache in the west and Oberach in the east from the Hausruck-Kobernaußerwald main ridge into the hill country, and thus the upper Achental (southwestern Innviertel) from the catchment area of the Antiesen (central Innviertel).

The place has around 10 buildings with around 30 residents. The main part belongs to Waldzell as Weißenbrunn , two houses, already above the Litzlhamer Bach to the north, are called Unterburgstall or Burgstall and form the village of Weissenbrunn von Schildorn.

history

Weysenprunn ('white, pure fountain') is documented as early as 1350. The connection of the name Burgstall to a possible weir on one of the mountain tops is unclear. The name can be found for example in 1781.

Until 1779 the place was Bavarian (then Innbaiern ) and belonged to the parish Waldzell the diocese of Passau . Only after the Peace of Teschen did he come to Austria with the Innviertel . In 1784 Joseph II set up his own parish for Schildorn (with Pramet) (although the Schildorn church was the old mother parish of the northern Hausruck-Kobernaußerwald area, the meanwhile more important Waldzell was the parish seat from the 14th century). As a result, part of the local situation came to Schildorn with the creation of the tax communities in the early 19th century and the local communities in 1848/49 , while the other remained at Waldzell.

The farmsteads that belong directly to Weißenbrunn (No. 1–3), the Hubbauer  ( No. 8), the Kronowitter  ( No. 9), the Weinberger  (No. 5) on the Litzlhamer Bach, the Lenzen- or Alberl- ( Oiberl-) Gut zu Burgstall  ( No. 6) and the Prixen- or Rothmayergut zu Burgstall  ( No. 7) are all as Urhöfe since 17/18 at the latest. Century demonstrably.
